Raising funds for Congresbury's New Village Hall

The 'Congresbury New Village Development Trust’ has recently been founded to raise the cost of building a new village hall for Congresbury at a cost of between £1.5 and £2 million and we are helping to raise funds this year.

Ian Sheppard, Chairman explains, 'We are already fortunate to have the support of Debbie Fortune Estate Agents in our annual fund raising classic car run and so far they have helped us raise £2,900 for our cause. We are hoping that we will raise the funds and grants needed to complete the project by the end of 2019, and the assistance of local business people like Debbie is helping us towards our aim.’

Ron Hall is Lead Fund Raising Manager for the project and adds, 'This super new amenity will be for the benefit of all our villagers, and will combine community facilities with leisure, sport and recreation. We are very grateful to Debbie and her team who have offered to help us in two ways. Firstly they have nominated us as their Charity of choice at the North Somerset Show on May 1st where we will be rattling our buckets and explaining our project to visitors from all over North Somerset...but more significantly is their generous offer of a donation of 10% of their fees on any house they sell or rent in Congresbury in 2017.'

'The fund raisers have a real mountain to climb to raise such a lot of money in such a short time,’ says Debbie, 'and when I met Ron and Ian, I was overwhelmed by their enthusiasm for the project. The villagers who sell or rent through us can also feel that they are involved in the project and are contributing to a really worthwhile village cause. We wish the fund raising team the very best of luck and we are delighted to be working together with a motivated and driven team, with the best interests of Congresbury at the heart of their project.’
