What a fabulous evening we had last week at Weston College's Business Awards 2015 - especially as we won 6 awards!

This annual Awards evening provides an important opportunity for the College to recognise and honour some of the outstanding work carried out by employers and the achievements of their apprentices. The winners were selected by a panel of judges from Weston College and the business world with the awards being presented at a Gala evening at Cadbury Double Tree Hilt...on by TV and radio presenter, Nicki Chapman.

Debbie said, “We were delighted to be recognised at this prestigious awards event and were, in fact, winners 6 times over, not only winning Employer of the Year but our Negotiator Becky Millard won Apprentice of the Year! Scott Higgins, based in our Chew Magna office, won Intermediate Professional Services Learner of the Year and I was given the Apprenticeship Ambassador Award. A fantastic result for both Becky and Scott and for the wonderful teams at both our offices.”

She adds, “Weston College is the only further education college in the UK to be awarded ‘Outstanding’ status by Ofsted, and.... it is on our doorstep! We should be very proud of its success and the tremendous service it provides to our young people.”

Debbie was interviewed recently for The Times which appeared in July 17th's Bricks and Mortar supplement, where the Chew Valley area was voted one of the top 20 family friendly villages in the UK!

Susan Ferris from Kingswood, Bristol, was one of thousands of people who visited the Above & Beyond marquee at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta this month. Like so many others, she generously donated to this worthy casue and was delighted to discover that she was the lucky winner in the ‘Guess the Balloons’ competition in Wallace the vintage car, kindly provided by Debbie Fortune Estate Agents. She is pictured with her grandson, Kyron, aged 4, (who helped Nanny guess the right number!) receiving her Kindle from Debbie Fortune, with Lorna Clarke of Above & Beyond.

Lorna said she and Debbie were amongst the many visitors and volunteers who helped them raise a final staggering total of £16,000 over the course of the weekend. A big thank you to everyone for their generosity!

Days are getting shorter, kids are back at school ... yes folks it must mean the Chew Stoke Harvest Home is back!
Come and see us at Chew Stoke's Harvest Home and Horse Show this Saturday 5th September from 12.30pm. Fun for all the family including a dog show, raffle, guess the balloons competition to win a Kindle, stalls, barbecue, tea tent and bar!
Live entertainment continues into the evening. For more information please go to chewstokeharvesthome.org.uk

Just like buses, two come along at the same time! After our success in the Weston College Business Awards where we won 6 awards, we've now been named finalists in this year's Business Leaders Awards, in not one, but two categories. We're up against very stiff competition, with some inspiring success stories, so feel really privileged to have reached the finals. Debbie is pictured with staff at the Wrington office.

Mr & Mrs Dando who bought in West Harptree through our Chew Magna office, said, "When and if we move again we will definitely use Debbie Fortune Estate Agents to sell based on our experience as buyers. We have moved quite a lot over the past few years and we have both been genuinely impressed and happy with all aspects of your service - especially Joanna Tiley's (pictured) help and guidance, she was very understanding..., always kind and a lot more helpful than our own agent."
Mr & Mrs D who sold in Weston-Super-Mare, through our Wrington office, said, "We found everyone very helpful, you gave us regular feedback and felt supported by the whole team. You all made our sale a positive and pleasant experience. Moving house is one of the most stressful life events we engage in and we felt you helped to ease that stress. The enthusiasm for our house was very encouraging...many thanks for your all your help and finding us a buyer so quickly - we shall be and (have been) recommending your services."

More success to report!
We've just heard that we are on the shortlist for The Negotiator awards 2015, in two categories ... South West Estate Agency of the Year AND Community Champion of the Year (UK) - a wonderful honour on top of our success at the Weston College business awards where we won 6 awards, and our places on two shortlists in the South West Business Leaders awards.
Fingers crossed for 24th September when the winners will be announced at the Business Leaders awards, and for 3 November where The Negotiator national awards take place in London.

Look! We're in the BBC Children in Need fundraising literature issued this week - fame at last! We will be doing it all again on Friday 13th November to try and beat last year's target of £700 - come to either our Wrington or Chew Magna offices to donate!

Delighted to report further success in the Business Leader Awards last night... Debbie Fortune Estate Agents were runners up in the Small Business of the Year, and our very own Debbie was named ‘Businesswoman of the Year 2015’.

This inaugural award was presented to Debbie by Caprice Bourret and Gyles Brandreth at a gala awards ceremony at Doubletree by Hilton Cadbury House. In an interview, Debbie said “Without the support of my wonderful team and our ever growing and loyal customers, we would never have achieved this accolade. I am so grateful to all of them and absolutely delighted to be honoured with this award!”

Just like buses...you wait ages for one then three come along at the same time!

Following our successes in the Weston College Business Awards 2015, where we were named winners in six categories and in The South West Business Leaders awards 2015 and Debbie was named South West Businesswoman of the Year, we are delighted to announce a further ‘feather in our cap’...this time in the main awards for the estate agency industry, The Negotiator Awards 2015.

At a star studded awards ceremony in London’s Park Lane, hosted by Alistair McGowan, 800 of the finest estate agents in the United Kingdom battled to be recognised as the industry leaders and Debbie Fortune Estate Agents were winners in two of the award categories during the evening.

Our first success was in the COMMUNITY CHAMPION OF THE YEAR AWARD, where we reached the shortlist of finalists but were pipped at the post for the main award.  This award celebrates corporate and social responsibility in the community, and Debbie said “We are delighted that our efforts to support not only our local area and community but more national events, like Children in Need for example, were recognised by the judges.”

The main success of the evening was in the regional awards where we were named

This is no mean feat as Debbie and her team were in competition against estate agency firms of all sizes in an area comprising Gloucestershire, Somerset, Bristol and Bath, Dorset, Wiltshire, Devon and Cornwall.

Debbie said “Much of  our success comes  down to the strength and experience of our teams at both offices ...our drive and enthusiasm  ...and the loyal support of our clients, customers and professional contacts...many of whom recommend us widely in the area and have done for years.”

She added “We were also really pleased with the judges’ comments which included: “This agency shows a great commitment to apprenticeships and impressive support for the local community – excellent figures too!’

Debbie and members of her team Jo Woolley and Joanna Tiley are shown receiving their award from Alastair Mc Gowan...with Marilyn Monroe in glamorous attendance!
