Beautifully maintained pretty cottage tucked away on the Portishead hillside, with private enclosed sun trap garden, three bedrooms and garage. EPC rating D
DESCRIPTION With oodles of character this lovely gem of a cottage is tucked away behind the hustle of bustle of the town below. Around the corner from bus routes and shops this is ideal for a number of purchasers looking for something a bit different but enjoying the convenience of Portishead.
Built in 1804 this charming cottage offers character, light, space and a peaceful private setting. The cottage is approached through a doorway leading to a sunny, beautifully established courtyard garden which is enclosed, private and a real sun trap.
From here the front door leads into a porchway, where you will find the office or double bedroom, bathroom, sitting room with a multi fuel burner set in a feature fireplace, dining room and well-proportioned kitchen with built in oven and gas hob, space and plumbing for a washing machine and attractive base, drawer and wall units allowing plenty of space for table and chairs. This horseshoe shape makes the cottage unique in appearance, and although traditional in style is bright and welcoming due to the modern windows and an abundance of charm.
Upstairs there are two double bedrooms and a very cleverly designed shower room with WC. The whole benefits from modern double glazing, feature beams, gas central heating, plenty of storage, a single detached garage with electric up and over door. For those that love a unique house and enjoy pottering in a low maintenance yet private garden but still benefitting from the amenities of the town on your doorstep, look no further.
SITUATION Portishead is magnificently situated, with sweeping views of the Severn Estuary, the Welsh coastline, both Severn bridges to one side and the beautiful and scenic Gordano Valley to the other. The picturesque Lake Grounds offer plenty of space for children to play, and is ideal for relaxing, admiring the spectacular views or watching the cricket or bowls. This is a great place to picnic, and refreshments are also available from the café. Portishead's stylish new marina development Port Marine houses up to 150 boats and has been developed as the centrepiece of a large urban renewal programme. The area is well worth a visit to see the luxury homes being developed and the striking public art. The work of several internationally acclaimed sculptors is on view here. Nearby attractions include a zoo farm, a fascinating farm and retail museum, and superb National Trust houses and gardens. Portishead is also highly convenient for the M5 motorway and Bristol.
DIRECTIONS From Portishead High Street turn into Cabstand opposite Waitrose garage and proceed up the hill into Nore Road. Continue along the road, turn left into West Hill, follow the road up then turn right into Friary Road, when Severn Cottage can be found on the left hand side.
