Property Description

Channel View Cottage is a truly unique and highly bespoke designer home that takes full advantage of its privileged private location. Both externally and internally the property has been thoughtfully developed to create a spectacular one off home which blends cutting edge design with art deco influences.
Situated at the end of Oakridge Lane, a highly desirable residential road that rises gently onto the slopes of the Mendip Hills, the position of the house is discrete and yet not isolated. This unique home is entered via a fabulous gantry walkway which provides access to the top floor accommodation of this three storey house. Taking full advantage of the incredible panoramic views the principal living space occupies the top floor. Entering into the spacious reception hallway your eyes are immediately drawn through to the amazing views to the rear that give you a sense of almost being above the clouds. A chic glass door leads through to the main reception/drawing room which features a beautiful wood burning stove and two incredible elevations of floor to ceiling windows with a doors that leads directly out to stunning balcony. Accessed off the second floor hallway is a further study/studio which could be utilised for varying purposes and also features floor to ceiling windows, an artist sink and of course more amazing views. Completing the top floor accommodation is a study/fourth bedroom and a handy cloakroom.
Transcending down from the second floor down to the first floor the contemporary and spacious theme continues and situated off another impressive reception hallway you will find two double bedrooms. Of particular note is the master suite which benefits from a large dressing room area and more incredible views towards the coastline. Off the reception hallway you will also find a smart family bathroom serving both the first floor bedrooms.
Arriving at the ground floor via the bespoke internal staircase, this versatile family home opens up into a spacious and largely open plan footprint with a real emphasis of socialising at its core. A generous dining hallway, with a rich oak floor, descends via just a few steps into an impressive and airy reception room with doors that lead out to a substantial entertaining terrace. The unfussy modern kitchen is sharp in its design with clean lines and quality appliances. Finally, and completing the properties internal accommodation is a further en-suite bedroom with a lovely designer shower room featuring stunning geometrical wall and floor tiles.
Accessed externally, there is a large under croft storage area, ideal for seasoning wood and storing garden furniture and equipment, along with the properties boiler.
The grounds that surround the house are best described as parkland in their appearance and gently slope away from the property. The mature tree line provides extreme privacy and frames the incredible view beyond. To the front and side aspect of Channel View Cottage there is softly landscaped borders that feature chic architectural planting as well as stone steps that rise to a large level parking area. There are also the two aforementioned dining terraces which are perfect for alfresco entertaining and a handy garden shed.
It is very clear that an incredible amount of time and thoughtful consideration was afforded into the creation of Channel View Cottage. More akin to a front line villa that you might find in the plush peninsula of Sandbanks, the property strikes a distinctive contrast to its rural setting and yet just fits its position perfectly. Modernist and yet subtle, this truly incredible family home is without question a must see. EPC rating D.
